Intel has been working on a wireless charging solution that is designed for both smartphones and Ultrabooks.
Wireless charging requires one to place the device on a charging pad, or within a short range of the power source at least, so Intel is trying to offer a single wireless charging pad/device to cater for compatible Ultrabooks and smartphones, and possibly charge both at once.
The reason of Intel developing wireless charging solution is lower power consumption and low cost. The company is supposed to target the second-half of 2013 for a launch.
