South Korean police has arrested two hackers for illegally accessing to KT Corp, the country’s largest fixed-line operator.

Stealing details of 8.7 million users including phone and personal identification numbers, the suspected hackers sold the data to telemarketers and made around $877,000 from the sale, said KT Corp.

It was a well planned attack, said the company. “It took nearly seven months to develop the hacking program and [the suspects] had very sophisticated hacking skills,” the Korean integrated wireless telecommunication service provider told the Yonhap News agency.

KT Corp promises to “strengthen the internal security system and raise awareness of security among all employees to prevent causing inconvenience to customers,” reported Yonhap News.
