Software giant Microsoft has finally introduced its tablet into the tablet market with the name Microsoft Surface. Microsoft has announced two different versions of its tablet, Surface Pro powered by Intel and Surface RT that runs on Windows RT.
“We believe that any intersection between human and machine can be made better when all aspects of the experience — hardware and software — are considered and working together,” said Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer. “Today we want to add another bit of excitement” to the Windows 8 story.
“Less than 2 lbs, less than 14 millimeters, but it’s a full PC,” said Michael Angiulo, corporate vice president for Microsoft.
It is the first foray of Microsoft into the hardware market.
In a press release Microsoft said:
“Suggested retail pricing will be announced closer to availability and is expected to be competitive with a comparable ARM tablet or Intel Ultrabook-class PC. OEMs will have cost and feature parity on Windows 8 and Windows RT.”
