Skype introduces Conversations Ads

Skype is going to display ads into the Web conversations. The voice-over-Internet Protocol service and software app that let users commune with peers by voice, video, and instant messaging over the Internet has announced its arrangements to insert display advertisement into Skype.

“We’re excited to introduce Conversations Ads as an opportunity for marketers to reach our hundreds of millions of connected users in a place where they can have meaningful conversations about brands in a highly engaging environment. Skype is already at the center of meaningful conversations, where families, friends, and colleagues spend time together,” wrote Skype on its official blog.

Initially the company is going to display the ads on 1:1 Skype-to-Skype audio calls made with Skype for Window, According to the blog.

“Conversation ads are available for marketers to purchase in 55 markets where Skype is available. Users without Skype credit or subscriptions will see the ads during 1:1 Skype-to-Skype audio calls in Skype for Windows,” wrote the blog.

Skype users who posses Skype credit or a Skype subscription will be exempt from commercial interruption, said the blog. At present, Skype is owned by software giant Microsoft.
